November/December

For some strange reason, I cannot find any of my November pictures. We did lots of fun activities. They were especially adorable at the program, but at least most of you were able to see them. If anyone has a good group picture from the program and would like to e-mail it to me, I will add it to this post. evematheson@comcast.net

I did promise Emma I would put the stone soup recipe on the blog, so here it is -- 2 months late.

1 lb. ground beef browned
1 onion
1c. chopped carrots
1 can undrained green beans
1 c. chopped potatoes
1 1/2 quarts water
1 can undrained corn
1/2 tsp. basil
1/2 tsp. thyme
1 tsp. salt
2 beef boulion cubes
1 clean stone
Cook together until vegetables are tender.

In December we talked about the five senses and did some fun Christmas activities to go along with them. I don't have a lot of pictures for this either, but I did get a few gingerbread boy pictures.

For our Christmas around the world day, Victoria's mom brought a hot-chocolate type drink from the Phillipines. It looks like everyone loved it.

Ivan's mom came to our class to tell us a traditional folktale from Russia about a little snow girl. She brought puppets that some children could use to help tell the story.

In Sweden they have St. Lucia day where the oldest daughter wears a crown of candles and greenery and passes out St. Lucia buns. Grandma Porter is the oldest daughter in her family.

We had lots of generous parents and our class went home with a lot of loot. They said it was the best Christmas party ever. Thanks for all you do.

These are SO cute Eve! Thanks so much for posting all of them. I love seeing what my daughter does when I'm not around. I just hope she's nice for you!
